Name: Pieter Boone
Number. Is there a story behind it? I wear number 8, but there’s no story behind it.
Hometown: Edmonton, Alberta
High School: St. Francis Xavier High School
At what age did you start playing your sport? What drew you to the game? I started playing soccer at a young age, my parents put me into soccer to tire me out. Over the years I grew more and more in love with the game and decided to continue with it.
What is your fondest memory of your sport? My fondest memory of playing soccer was definitely touring England with my old academy and playing in my first international match.
Any pre or post-game rituals that you would be willing to share? How do you prepare? I have a few things I do, I always put my left shoe on then my right, laces tied left then right as well.
What are your future goals? To keep on performing to the best of my ability and help the team in any way possible to get the best result.
From Head Coach Chris Morgan:
Any special game moments, stats you’d like to share? Despite a difficult weekend for the GPRC Wolves, Men’s Soccer program Pieter Boone was excellent in both games. Pieter played super in central defence vs. TKU on Friday with his distribution from the backline as a real asset for the Wolves. On Saturday Pieter was used as a centre forward vs. Concordia and even squeezed in a physio appointment on Saturday morning before the game. His hold up play was a joy to watch and was always a threat from set-plays. Pieter was very close to scoring on a number of occasions.
What does this player bring to the dynamics of the team? Pieter has stepped up in his responsibilities this year and has matured both on and off the field. Pieter always likes to joke but has real focus come game time. He brings an assured presence in central defence reading danger and covering for his teammates. He is dominant in 1v1 situations and is always an aerial threat. Well done Pieter.
