Thursday, May 6th, 2021
Recruitment season continues for the 2021-22 GPRC Wolves as Head Coach, Chris Morgan adds another player to his women’s soccer roster. GPRC is pleased to welcome new athletes into inclusive post-secondary sports through the 5GPRC priority of delivering a unique student experience for every wolf-pack member.
Meet Chantelle Kirk.
A local recruit, hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Kirk is excited to begin her post-secondary education while still getting to play and learn about the sport she loves. “GPRC has a reputation for developing strong athletic, community-minded teams, in which I would love to be a part of,” said Kirk. “My desire to stick close to home and continue my love for soccer, while still obtaining an education, has influenced me to choose GPRC. A place of various opportunities and a powerful women’s soccer team with dedicated players and coaches that have plenty to offer and teach.”
Kirk is bringing valuable playing and coaching experience to the Wolves. In 2018/2019 Kirk coached U9 Girls and brought home a Silver title with the team at the Slush Cup tournament. From 2018 to 2020, Kirk played in the ladies league, mostly with the Grande Prairie Lions, and in 2019 brought home a Gold medal with the Fort St. John Strikers. Finally in March 2020, Kirk made the U19 NAIG team but unfortunately could not compete due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
In her upcoming rookie season, Kirk is looking forward to connecting with her new classmates and teammates. “I am most excited for the chance to officially play and experience collegiate level soccer,” said Kirk. “I am also looking forward to testing and exceeding my limits, both mentally and physically, for the chance to learn new things, take on difficult challenges and lastly, for the opportunity to make lasting memories with the rest of my team.”
Head Coach, Chris Morgan is thrilled to add Kirk to the roster. “It is fantastic to welcome another local player to the program. Chantelle will provide a presence on the field with her strong running and ability to compete physically. It will be awesome to witness her development as a person and a player."
Welcome to the pack, Chantelle.
