Recruitment season has kicked off for the 2021-22 GPRC Wolves Cross Country Running team. GPRC is pleased to welcome new athletes into inclusive post-secondary sports through the priority of delivering a unique student experience for every wolf-pack member. Head Coach, Fabio Minozzo is excited to add his first recruits to the roster.
First up, let’s welcome Jill van der Giessen.
A local recruit, hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Van der Giessen is looking forward to representing the Wolves program and following in her family’s footsteps. “I chose GPRC because I wanted to stay close to home, on top of the friendly atmosphere and the fact that my dad and my sister both went to GPRC and had great experiences.”
Van der Giessen is bringing great value and experience to the Wolves, having achieved first place in both the 1500m and 3000m zones in 2019.
In her upcoming rookie season, Van der Giessen is looking forward to creating new experiences and pushing her skills to the next level. “I’m excited to be given the chance to compete once again. With my grade 11 and 12 years being cut due to COVID-19, it has been a while since I have raced and I’m looking forward to it. I am also excited to see my growth and improvement throughout the year with my running as well as to learn and to gain knowledge from others.”
Head Coach, Fabio Minozzo is thrilled to add Van der Giessen to the line-up. “Jill is a motivated and dedicated cross-country and track runner who is already a stand-out athlete in high school."
Welcome to the pack, Jill.
